2018 Summary
See what we've been up to over the past 12 months.
Keith Armstrong Retirement
Late in 2018 we said farewell to a founding director of kyoob. Keith Armstrong has been pivotal in the success of the company over the last seven years. His knowledge and input into projects will be hugely missed. Now it’s time to take your well-deserved rest and enjoy all the spoils of retirement. From everybody at kyoob, past and present, we sincerely wish you all the best and hope you will drop in for a cuppa and a muffin soon!
Prospect Building, Sunderland University
Another University of Sunderland project was completed this year. The Prospect Gateway project included the refurbishment of the main entrance space within the St Peter’s Campus. The works included interview/meeting rooms, library, reception area and social hub.
Luxury Leisure, Manchester
We were asked by Admiral Gaming to provide design services for their recently acquired new premises on Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester. The fit out include the provision of new refrigerant based heating and cooling systems together with new lights, security and life safety systems. The project is due to complete early in 2019.
Lifton House, Jesmond
Works have gathered pace on the refurbishment of Lifton House, Jesmond. The 19th century house was converted into office space in the 1970’s and it is now being updated once more. The facility will incorporate fully comfort cooled, mechanically ventilated high specification offices and conference facilities. All building services systems are exposed and integrated with floating ceiling rafts. We have been working closely with the architect and the construction team to ensure the installation runs smoothly.
Kielder Tipi’s
We have been assisting in the designs and engineering associated with a new attraction at Leaplish Kielder. A new collection of Tipi tented structures are being erected for entertainment purposes at this popular venue. Kyoob have assisted with general power and lighting designs along with sympathetic external lighting designs bearing in mind the dark skies policy
Pele Tower, Creswell
We have been working closely with Architect John Curtis in developing a services solution which complements this listed scheduled ancient monument but also provides facility to enable this to become a popular visitor attraction. We have provided detailed design for new lighting, heating and ventilation systems and we are all looking forward to our first visit.
Vindolanda
We have been appointed as part of the professional design team to create a new 21st century post excavation and excavation centre on the World Heritage site of Vindolanda. The facility will enable the continued future exploration of the archaeological remains at the site (so that’s where Keith went!)
