Permanent Staff


Steven Irving joined us in April 2014 as a senior electrical engineer. Steven brings with him over 10 years of electrical design experience and some awesome cake making abilities! Welcome to the team and we all look forward to sampling your culinary delights.

Student Placement


September often means the start of a new term and the return to university life for our placement students. Michael Williams left us to complete his studies on his final year and has been replaced with Alex Martin as a trainee mechanical engineer. All the best Michael and welcome to the team Alex.

CDDFRS Sniperley Fire Station


As part of our ongoing appointment with County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service, this year has seen the completion of Sniperley Fire Station, located on the edge of Durham City. The fire station occupies a prominent position on the approach to the city and we think it looks fantastic.

Apollo Studio, Peterlee


The fit out of Apollo Studio at East Durham College in Peterlee was completed in August 2014. It was great to reconvene the design team from the original project which meant we could jump straight into the design. The finished product is superb, as we’re sure you’ll agree, the end users certainly do!

Kennedy Gardens, Billingham


Kennedy Gardens is the refurbishment of three huge residential tower blocks in Billingham which are managed by Thirteen. The project was handed over by Wates construction in September 2014. We’re really proud to have worked on this project and we think the residents will be very happy with the improvements.

Northumbrian Hills, Burgham


The development of Burgham Golf Club to house a new exclusive set of holiday lodges has rapidly developed through 2014. The first 8 lodges are due to be handed over in early 2015 and look brilliant. The heating solution is centred around an air source heat pump which feeds both the underfloor heating system and hot water cylinder.

Rothbury First School, Northumberland


The kitchen and dining block at Rothbury First School was refurbished this year and was handed back to the school in August. The works involved significantly upgrading the thermal properties of the building and providing completely new building services systems including a new heating system, kitchen ventilation system, lighting and controls.

The Old Low Light, North Shields


The refurbishment of this listed building was completed and handed over to the client in September 2014. As with most listed properties, we had to take great care in the design of building services systems to satisfy heritage requirements whilst making the building a pleasant place to visit. We were on site a lot during construction to ensure our design intent was realised.

Citygate House, Newcastle


Another listed building refurbishment in the heart of Newcastle (in the shadows of St James’ Park!). What made this particular refurbishment interesting was that our client and project developer was actually going to occupy the building when complete! The finished article if fantastic and is a credit to the close working relationship we had with the architect, Ryder, on this one. Even the reported sightings of ghosts didn’t deter the contractor during the fit out!

Houghall College Maintenance Programme


As part of our on-going relationship with East Durham College we have recently completed a lead consultant role for the overhaul of the existing domestic hot and cold water services systems. This included full services ranging from design, contractor selection, clerk of works and handover roles. The project had a very tight programme which was achieved through a close working relationship with contractor and client.

Titan House, Hartlepool


We have worked closely with Thirteen’s in house architectural and project management team to deliver this local office in Hartlepool. The project involved the conversion of numerous former retail units into a single high specification office for the housing group. An exposed services solution was preferred and we worked closely with the project architect to ensure all services were coordinated at design stage to deliver the required aesthetic of the facility. As I’m sure you’ll agree, the results are brilliant!
