Prospect Building, Sunderland University

The Prospect Gateway project included the refurbishment of the main entrance space within the St Peter’s Campus.  The works included interview/meeting rooms, library, reception area and social hub.

The Grimsby Institute

The Grimsby Institute are continuing to expand and improve their facilities in the town  We worked with Ryder to deliver this high tech, BREEAM Excellent building.  Not only does it include a massive photovoltaic array and highly efficient air source heat pumps but it also looks pretty cool too!!

Carmel College

The project included the construction of three new teaching spaces, seminar room and refurbished dining facilities and gymnasiumt.  It was undertaken operating around a busy school, which relied on close relationships and good communication between design and construction teams.

Houghall College Maintenance Programme

As part of our on-going relationship with East Durham College we completed a lead consultant role for the overhaul of the existing domestic hot and cold water services systems. This included full services ranging from design, contractor selection, clerk of works and handover roles. The project had a very tight programme which was achieved through a close working relationship with contractor and client.

Rothbury First School, Northumberland

The works involved significantly upgrading the thermal properties of the building and providing completely new building services systems including a new heating system, kitchen ventilation system, lighting and controls.

Meadows Nursery, Northumberland

This new rural nursery facility  incorporates hybrid natural ventilation systems to ensure good air quality throughout the year, an underfloor heating system and a PV array on the roof.

Armstrong Building Phase 5B and Boiler House Conversion, Newcastle University

The project included designing the building services for phase 5B of the Armstrong Building refurbishment and also the conversion of what was the cavitation tunnel research area adjacent the campus district heating boiler hall.

The Armstrong Building works include the introduction of a new mezzanine floor to house music academic/admin staff together with the refurbishment of the Robert Boyle lecture theatre and the formation of a new glazed entrance area within the internal courtyard.

The Boiler House conversion will provide a performance space with capacity for a maximum of 400 people.

Holy Family School, Darlington

As part of our ongoing framework agreement with Carmel Education Trust, we have completed the refurbishment and extension of Holy Family primary school in Darlington.  The project consisted of a full electrical re-wire, new data installation together with new hybrid ventilation units to teaching spaces.  The project was completed to a tight programme over the summer holiday period which required close collaboration between both design and construction teams.

Nurse Teaching Centre, Sunderland University

Kyoob have undertaken several projects with Sunderland University following on from successfully joining their framework. The most recent project was conversion of several floors of Shackleton House to form a new state-of-the-art Nurse Teaching Facility. This is a major growth course for the University and although the facility has only been open since September, we are currently working on plans to convert the remaining area of the building with more teaching facilities, this time focussing on mental health nursing.

Backworth Park Primary School and Northumberland Park Phase 3

As part of our ongoing involvement in the Northumberland Park development with Northumberland Estates we are currently on site with the construction of Backworth Park Primary School and the extension to the Northumberland Park retail area.  The school will provide education facilities for the newly completed adjacent housing estates and includes hybrid ventilation systems and a large photovoltaic array.  The retail park will initially bolster the existing area with a new supermarket and drive through restaurant, additional retail outlets will follow in subsequent phases.
